ChemRat Radio

A love for all things GrimDark

ChemRat Radio was founded in Southern California in 2019 by Ryan “Goblin King” Berry, a 12-year veteran of San Diego’s Fan Gaming Convention Scene.  Its first Podcast, Under the Hive of Madness, was designed to focus on the horror and dark science fiction universe of Warhammer 40k.   The second show launched as bonus episodes within the Podcast was Lorus Obscurus, focusing on the Paranormal in our world and how to link those concepts into creative writing within a setting like Warhammer 40k.

A third show, Under the Realms of Madness, was launched with the help of Emmy and extends into the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and the Age of Sigmar.

Speculative Fiction & Creative Universes

The Art of World Building

ChemRat Radio is built on collaborative storytelling, from the tabletop world we create in Warhammer 40k Crusades and Narrative Campaigns to the individual stories we tell through characters during a role-playing session.  Our mission is to explore the fundamental elements of Creative Writing and world-building to help our community write the stories they want to tell and run the games they want to play.

Our mission is to explore the lore of our favorite universes, break down the internal ruleset that govern them, and explore how those elements can be combined into creative writing and world-building principles.   We aim to explore the hows and whys of magic systems, advanced and alien technologies, how empires are built, the depths of black markets and strange economics, the flora and fauna of weird biology, and anything else we can sink our claws into.

Radical Inclusion

Fostering a Community focused on the Hobby, Not on Gatekeeping

ChemRat Radio embraces the principals of Radical Inclusion, aiming to create a safe and inviting place for creative works.  We don’t see a reason to limit the limitless possibilities of any unvirses.  Don’t get us wrong, we get working within the established laws of a setting, but when the setting is built to do anything… why stop people from having fun?
